Air connectivity from Sri Guru Ram Dass Ji International Airport received a major boost with IndiGo launching its daily Amritsar-Noida (Jewar) flight from June 15. The service connects the holy city directly with the newly operational Noida International Airport at Jewar, which began commercial operations on June 15 with IndiGo as its launch carrier.

The new flight is expected to provide passengers from Punjab with an alternative gateway to the National Capital Region (NCR) while also offering convenient onward connections to several cities across the country through Noida Airport.

According to the schedule announced by the airline, flight 6E 2490 departs Hyderabad at 6.25 am, reaches Noida at 8.35 am and then leaves for Amritsar at 10.10 am, arriving at Sri Guru Ram Dass Ji International Airport at 11.20 am. The return flight, 6E 2491, departs Amritsar at 12.15 pm, lands at Noida at 1.20 pm and continues onward to Hyderabad, reaching there at 4.50 pm.

The service is part of IndiGo’s broader expansion from Noida International Airport, through which the airline is connecting more than 16 destinations across India, including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Dharamshala, Jaipur, Lucknow, Navi Mumbai, Pantnagar and Srinagar, among others.

Sameep Singh Gumtala of the Fly Amritsar Initiative said the Amritsar–Noida route would strengthen domestic connectivity from Punjab and provide seamless access to southern India through the Hyderabad connection. The new service is also expected to benefit devotees, business travellers, tourists and members of the Punjabi diaspora travelling to and from various parts of the country.

Industry observers believe the new route could emerge as a viable alternative for passengers currently transiting through Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. Unlike Delhi airport, the newly developed Noida International Airport is expected to experience lower congestion during its initial phase, enabling faster transfers and shorter connection times.

With Noida Airport now operational, travellers from Amritsar can access onward flights to cities such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Lucknow through the new hub. Aviation experts say the development marks another step towards strengthening the domestic route network of Amritsar Airport, which has witnessed gradual growth in both passenger traffic and airline operations in recent years.
