There is incoherency in the names of public utilities in Varpal village as their actual location lies somewhere else, causing confusion among people. For instance, the Chattiwind police station is situated inside Varpal Kalan village, but affected people search it in the Chattiwind area, which is situated a few km from the village. Similarly, the village’s sports ground is situated on the outskirts. It lies close to adjoining Vanchari village. During the Capt Amarinder Singh government’s rule, the ground was set up on around 2 to 3 aces. Now, its boundary wall has been damaged. Parents do not allow kids to go to the ground as a canal falls between the ground and Varpal village, which is situated in a secluded location.

Spread over 10 acres, Dana Mandi in Varpal Kalan village, which actually falls near Mahima Pandori village, has been lying idle for decades. As if these incoherencies were not enough, the village has a railway station which is situated inside Varpal Khurd village. While the name of the railway station is popular as the Gohalwar railway station, Gohalwar village falls a few km from Varpal.

Baljit Singh, a resident of the village, said the railway station had been lying unused for over a year. Earlier, a train from Amritsar to Khemakaran used to halt at 9:30 am. Workers of factories and students were the main commuters. He stated that the village had extended about 8 acres to the Railways to set up a railway station.

Similarly, the village had given about 100 acres to the erstwhile Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) to set up a power sub-station, yet the residents felt that they were neither given any special facility nor treatment in the power distribution. A government school was elevated to School of Eminence about two years ago. Later, the PWD declared the building of this school unsafe and it was shifted to double-shift from 2025, but surprisingly, even after a year, neither the said building has been demolished nor has any brick been laid to build a new building, keeping in mind the interests of the students. District Education Officer (S) Rajesh Kumar Sharma said a letter had been sent to the authorities to build four new rooms in Varpal School.
