Every time a politician drops a major gundu then makes a loose, half-baked apology, confirm our own people will act like saints on Facebook: "Aiyo... let it go lah machan. Manithan broad-minded-ah be. He already said sorry what, don't keep digging." 🙄
Then when you actually stand your ground and ask for accountability, they will pull out the ultimate emotional blackmail kad: “Yenda, then who else is better than him? You want the other side to come and finish us off ah?”
Yapa, logic directly went to Brickfields and flew away.
Dai, the question shouldn't be "Who is better than him?"
The real question is: Why are we so cheapskate with our own standards? 🤷♂️
If Malaysian Indians used this exact same logic for everything else, today we would still be:
- Choking on 512kbps Streamyx while trying to stream Sivaji The Boss in 240p 🔴
- Sweating buckets driving an old Kancil 660 with no power steering while the whole world passes us on the highway 🚗
- Digging for cash at the toll booth because "still can use what cash, why need Touch 'n Go card and link RFID?" 💵
We demand the highest specs when buying a new smartphone, but when it comes to leadership for the country, we accept "daripada tak ada, ok lah."
Democracy is not about waiting for a perfect avatar to drop from the sky to save us. It’s about refusing to accept that the current boss is the absolute best Malaysia can offer our future generations.
Forgiveness is between your soul and the temple. Accountability is between the leader and the rakyat.
If you want to personally forgive messy statements like "kuil haram," that is your own thalaivali up to you. But please, do not use your personal soft-heartedness to lower the benchmark for the entire community and country.
An apology only finishes the political drama before the next pesta. It doesn't fix the bad judgment, the systemic neglect, or the half-baked policies that affect our lives.
If we keep using the "who else is better" excuse to tolerate subpar standards, then don’t look shocked when we get subpar treatment forever. Standard kita, kita yang jaga.
