Kota Kinabalu: Birthdays are something to relish. But the parents of Leyanora Ambrose pray it will not be her last. They dread the day when her body shuts down but that thought was banished for a moment when they put on a smile for her 13th at KFC Sulaman, Saturday.
“It’s hard to accept the reality but what can we do. Life has dealt us this hand,” said housewife Aderina Simun, 34.
Leyanora was diagnosed with acute renal failure in 2018, requiring haemodialysis treatment thrice weekly at Likas Hospital. The disease is considered at its “end stage”.
