Anderlecht coach Brian Riemer has recalled working with Christian Eriksen at Brentford last season.

Eriksen spent six months with the Bees, after recovering from a cardiac arrest, before landing a move to Manchester United.

Former Brentford assistant manager Reimer told Nieuwsblad: "I clearly remember what Christian said to the whole squad on his first day at the club.

"He made it very clear that they should in no way spare him in the duels. Pity was not necessary for him, and it did not take long before he dictated the play of our team."

Riemer says he himself was present at the Parken on 12 June 2021 when Eriksen collapsed.

"It was incomprehensible. After all, he had been dead for a while. Fortunately, he recovered. Then he looked for a club where he could feel at home.

"There are quite a few Danish players in Brentford, so he felt comfortable there."
