- Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has reportedly been served with a High Court witness summons to give evidence in a £40 million fraud trial involving Turkish national Nebahat İşbilen and her former financial adviser, Selman Turk.
- The legal dispute centres on allegations that Mr Turk misled Ms İşbilen into transferring £750,000 to Mr Mountbatten-Windsor's personal bank account in November 2019, purportedly as a gift to secure assistance with a Turkish passport.
- Mr Turk strongly denies any dishonesty, claiming the payment was arranged by Ms İşbilen as a loan or goodwill gesture to seek help for her imprisoned husband through Mr Mountbatten-Windsor's international connections.
- Mr Mountbatten-Windsor, who is not accused of any wrongdoing, is expected to appear in court on or before 15 December to give evidence on behalf of Mr Turk.
- This appearance will mark the first time Mr Mountbatten-Windsor faces public questioning since his 2019 BBC Newsnight interview, making him thought to be the first royal summoned as a witness since the 19th century.
