Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham has shared footage showing a man tearing down posters supporting him ahead of the upcoming Makerfield by-election.
The footage, shared on Sunday (7 June), shows a man exiting a van and walking up to the stake attached to a property’s fence.
He then swipes the sign before putting it into his van, before doing the same thing to another “Vote Andy” placard.
Sharing the clip, Mr Burnham wrote: “Whoever this is, we’d appreciate your help on the 19th of June as we’ll have about 650 stakes to take down, but could you give it a rest for now.”
In a later video message, Mr Burnham joked that his “garden stakes are under attack”.
It is illegal to remove any political placard or poster from someone’s private property.
