Angela Muji is returning to the music scene with a more personal approach, releasing “Is It Over” under Ivory Music while balancing her growing acting career.
Best known for playing the titular character in the Viva One series “Dating Alys Perez,” Muji said she is excited to explore her musicality further after years of pursuing acting.
Her return to music is also a homecoming of sorts. Before establishing herself as an actress, Muji was part of P-Pop Generation, where she spent years performing as a group member.
“I’m so grateful that I was given the chance to become a solo artist because after our P-Pop group disbanded, I never thought I would be able to sing or dance again,” Muji said during a press conference for the single.
She recalled how she once dreamed of simply getting more lines in the group’s songs.
“Now, I have one solo song for myself,” she enthused.
“Is It Over” was written by Crisanto Aquino, director of “Dating Alys Perez,” with Dek Mahaga contributing to the melody and additional lines.
The song’s heartbreak theme also required Muji to approach the recording as an actress, rather than simply as a singer delivering the lyrics.
“I just feel the words themselves. The lyrics hurt when you hear them,” she said.
She also revealed that she has already met with Ivory Music to discuss possible songs for future releases.
“Actually, we are planning to explore my musicality more. I’m excited because I had a meeting with Ivory, and we were talking about some of the possible songs I’ll be recording,” Muji said.
The singer-actress said she is interested in pop songs with a lighter, more upbeat sound while remaining open to ballads.
“Is It Over” has already received a positive response from listeners. Muji said she was surprised to see the song chart on Vibe Plus, TV5’s music countdown, and thanked supporters who voted for it.
“Actually, I didn’t expect it to chart on Vibe,” she said. “I’m just grateful to my fans, to my supporters, and to everyone who is listening to it.”
She said simply having people listen to and appreciate the song already means a lot to her, while the effort of fans to vote for it made the achievement even more meaningful.
