Deputy prime minister Angela Rayner has rejected claims she was 'defensive' and 'aggressive' in a recent meeting with the bereaved families and survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire.

Rayner spoke with locals and groups representing survivors on Wednesday (5 February) to inform them of the government's decision to dismantle the tower over the next two years, following consultation with engineers who advised the structure was significantly damaged and would worsen over time.

The news was met with criticism by some who believe they have not been properly consulted over the plans, which one group of Grenfell Tower representatives called 'disgraceful and unforgivable'.
