A Malaysian driver honked at a man who stood in the middle of the road in SS15, Subang Jaya, as a friendly reminder.
The man, however, was not happy that he was honked at.
Dashcam footage of the incident went viral, showing how, after being honked at, the man, standing next to his Ferrari, stared sharply at the driver. The driver then told him that he was blocking traffic by standing in the middle of the road, but the explanation failed to appease the Ferrari driver.
The man then got into his luxury car and began revving the engine, triggering a brief chase after the dashcam owner made a U-turn at LRT SS15. The Ferrari driver overtook him and once again blocked his path by stopping in front of his vehicle opposite INTI College.
He stepped out of his car, but the owner of the dashcam footage drove away. Based on the details shown in the footage, the incident occurred on 27 December at around 4:10 AM.
“It was a moment of my poor judgment”
The Ferrari driver, who holds a managerial position at a clothing brand, has broken his silence and acknowledged that he is reflecting on the incident. Despite the incident taking place just outside the clothing store, he said that the matter does not reflect the brand in any way, nor was it a publicity stunt.
“Regardless of the situation, reacting emotionally was not the right response. I will take full responsibility for my actions.”
He disclosed in a statement this morning (12 January) that he had previously contacted the driver to express his apology and offered to pay for the car’s damages. He then apologised to the public for the matter, and the management of his workplace had also addressed the situation.
“Suspended from all duties, effective immediately”
In an official statement, the brand stated that the viral incident does not align with the company’s professional standards and values. As such, the Ferrari driver has been suspended from all his duties, and the management highlighted that they take this matter seriously.
“While the incident involves personal conduct, we recognise that individuals in leadership positions carry responsibilities beyond themselves.”
