The most common food items we see turmeric in are definitely fried chicken and curry. However, do you know that turmeric has many other uses as well?

Recently, we saw many netizens shared a 2019 Facebook post from Adabi on multiple social media platforms and we were quite intrigued by it.

The post talks about an elephant spa day at Zoo Negara using turmeric powder from Adabi!

“Adabi Consumer worked with Zoo Negara to give a turmeric bath to one of the elephants there.”

The spice powder was put on the gentle giant by a team of “masseurs”, covering every inch of its skin. In total, they used more than 7kg of the powder for the pampering.

It was then left on for a little while so that the good stuff can be absorbed through its skin. Adabi also said, “this method using turmeric is actually used in each zoo as it is good for elephants.”

It is mentioned that turmeric can be used to heal small wounds, treat insect bites, has antiseptic properties and is a skin healing agent.

Not just for elephants!

In fact, many people use turmeric as a home remedy for their pets and also for their skin concerns!

“I learnt a way to stop the itch from scabies or ringworm in cats. Just use the leftover oil from frying turmeric chicken or fish and apply it to the area. I’ve tried it and now my cats do not have scabies or ringworm,” said a netizen.
