Taking calls with wireless earbuds can be frustrating when you're surrounded by traffic, conversations or other background noise. It can be even more challenging with open-ear earbuds, which are designed to let you hear what's happening around you rather than block everything out.
Anker Innovations is looking to address this problem with the new Anker soundcore AeroClip 2, a pair of premium open-ear clip-on earbuds featuring a six-sensor hybrid voice pickup system and a dedicated THUS™ AI chip.
Unlike conventional earbuds that rely mainly on microphones and noise-reduction algorithms, the AeroClip 2 also detects vibrations produced when the wearer speaks. This gives its AI system additional information to help distinguish the user's voice from surrounding noise.
With features such as personalised audio, an ergonomic clip-on design, LDAC support and up to 32 hours of battery life with the charging case, the AeroClip 2 is designed for people who want to enjoy music and take calls without losing awareness of their surroundings.

Why Open-Ear Earbuds Struggle With Background Noise
Open-ear earbuds have become an alternative for people who dislike having earphones inserted into their ear canals. Their design allows surrounding sounds to remain audible, making them useful for commuting, working and everyday activities.
However, this design also creates a challenge when taking calls.
Because open-ear earbuds do not create an acoustic seal, their microphones are exposed to the wearer's voice and surrounding noise at the same time. In a busy café, beside a road or on public transport, separating speech from environmental sounds can be difficult.
Traditional microphone arrays attempt to solve this through noise filtering, but their effectiveness can decrease as the environment becomes louder.
The soundcore AeroClip 2 introduces a six-sensor hybrid voice pickup system that combines four high signal-to-noise ratio MEMS microphones with two additional voice pickup units.
These two units detect mechanical vibrations associated with the wearer's voice, rather than relying entirely on sound travelling through the air.
By combining both sources of information, the earbuds are designed to identify speech more accurately while reducing interference from surrounding noise.
Anker calls this approach "Loud World, Clear You", highlighting its focus on maintaining clearer conversations even in challenging environments.
THUS™ AI Chip Brings More Advanced Voice Processing
At the centre of the AeroClip 2's call technology is the THUS™ AI chip, which processes information captured by the six-sensor system in real time.
According to Anker, THUS™ delivers approximately 150 times the AI computing power of the previous generation, allowing the earbuds to perform more complex audio processing within the limited space and battery capacity of a wearable device.
The chip uses a technology known as NOR Flash compute-in-memory, which allows certain calculations to be performed directly within memory cells.
In conventional chip architectures, information must repeatedly move between memory and processing components. This movement consumes energy, which becomes particularly important in small battery-powered devices.
By bringing computation closer to where information is stored, THUS™ is designed to reduce unnecessary data movement and improve processing efficiency.
Anker says its NOR Flash compute-in-memory technology also occupies approximately one-sixth of the space required by comparable SRAM-based alternatives.
The THUS™ platform was previously introduced in the soundcore Liberty 5 Pro before being incorporated into the AeroClip 2.
In April 2026, the Liberty 5 Pro received Guinness World Records certification for achieving the highest objectively measured speech-quality score in true wireless stereo earbuds, according to Anker.
The company also states that the AeroClip 2 received recognition in September 2026 under the title "World's Clearest Open-Ear Clip-On Earbuds for Calls".

Whisper Mode Helps Keep Conversations Clear
One of the more interesting features of the soundcore AeroClip 2 is Whisper Mode, which is designed to improve speech clarity when users are speaking in noisy environments.
According to Anker, the system can maintain speech intelligibility even when surrounding noise exceeds 80 dB.
Rather than requiring users to raise their voices, the earbuds use their hybrid sensors and AI processing to identify speech and reduce unwanted background sounds.
This could be particularly useful when taking a quick work call outdoors, speaking with someone while commuting or answering a call in a crowded environment.
The improved voice pickup is also intended to provide clearer speech input for AI-assisted translation applications.
Actual performance will depend on factors such as surrounding noise, earbud positioning and call connection quality.
An Open-Ear Design That Keeps You Connected to Your Surroundings
While many premium wireless earbuds focus on blocking out the outside world through active noise cancellation, the AeroClip 2 takes a different approach.
Its open-ear clip-on design sits around the ear without entering the ear canal, allowing users to listen to audio while remaining aware of nearby sounds.
For example, someone working in an office can continue hearing colleagues nearby, while commuters can remain aware of public transport announcements.
It can also be convenient for people who prefer not to remove their earbuds whenever someone starts a conversation.
This design does mean the AeroClip 2 is not intended to provide the same sound isolation as conventional in-ear earbuds. Instead, its appeal lies in balancing personal audio with everyday environmental awareness.

Designed for All-Day Comfort With a Secure Clip-On Fit
Comfort is an important consideration for open-ear earbuds, particularly for users who wear them throughout the day.
Anker says the AeroClip 2 was developed using a database of more than 2,000 3D ear scans to determine a suitable balance between grip and comfort.
The resulting design incorporates what Anker calls its Comfort-Grip Zone, intended to keep the earbuds securely positioned without placing excessive pressure on the ears.
The earbuds also feature a Golden-Fit™ titanium wire housed within a flexible silicone C-bridge, allowing the structure to follow the natural shape of the ear.
This design aims to provide a stable fit during everyday movement while remaining comfortable for extended listening sessions.
The AeroClip 2 also carries an IP57 dust and water resistance rating, offering protection against dust and certain levels of water exposure.
This makes the earbuds suitable for everyday activities and workouts where sweat or occasional splashes may occur, although users should still follow Anker's care recommendations.
12mm Drivers, LDAC and Hi-Res Audio Wireless Support
Although call clarity is one of its main selling points, the soundcore AeroClip 2 also introduces several features designed to improve music playback.
Each earbud is equipped with a 12mm dual-magnetic, high-excursion driver, designed to produce stronger bass and detailed high-frequency audio.
Anker claims the AeroClip 2 delivers twice the low-frequency sound pressure energy of the previous-generation soundcore AeroClip.
The earbuds also support LDAC, a wireless audio codec that allows compatible devices to transmit audio at higher data rates than standard Bluetooth audio codecs.
They also carry Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification from the Japan Audio Society.
For listeners who enjoy adjusting their audio experience, the AeroClip 2 includes HearID 5.0, which creates a personalised equaliser profile based on an in-app hearing assessment.
Instead of relying entirely on standard audio presets, users can tailor the sound profile to their individual hearing characteristics.
However, audio quality will still depend on the source material, device compatibility, listening environment and personal preferences.
Up to 32 Hours of Battery Life With Fast Charging
Battery life is another consideration for anyone planning to use wireless earbuds throughout the working day.
According to Anker, the AeroClip 2 provides up to eight hours of playback on a single charge, while the charging case extends the total listening time to 32 hours.
For users who need a quick top-up before heading out, a 10-minute charge can provide up to four hours of playback, based on Anker's stated figures.
The charging case also supports wireless charging, providing an alternative to conventional cable charging.
Another feature is Phone-Free Mode, which allows users to listen to locally stored music without maintaining an active connection to their smartphone.
This may be useful during activities where carrying a phone is less convenient.
As with most wireless audio devices, actual battery performance will vary depending on volume, connectivity settings, audio features and usage conditions.
