The stalemate results of GE15 have shown an unforeseen plot twist where Barisan Nasional (BN) will be the kingmaker in the formation of the 15th cabinet, leaving the coalition divided as many of the high officers refused to collaborate with either Pakatan Harapan or Perikatan Nasional.
Tan Sri Annuar Musa, one of UMNO's high leaders conducted a live interview on 21st November 2022 on his media social platforms, where he spilled the tea on UMNO’s dispute, forming Muafakat Nasional and the president’s misconduct.
According to MalayMail, Annuar Musa accused the current Bagan Datuk MP, Dato' Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi saying he’s dragging UMNO into the mud by claiming Zahid excluded the voice of grassroots when holding discussions with Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders about a possible unity government.
Annuar also blamed BN’s terrible loss on Zahid Hamidi, for not only making his own motion without discussion with other UMNO leaders but also overshadowing BN’s Prime Minister candidate, Dato’ Seri Ismail Sabri Yaacob.
“We had conducted field research and it shows that the citizens reject Zahid. During Johor and Melaka state, Zahid was not on the front during the campaign period, but it shows the support we gain as we win the state election,” says Annuar.
Annuar Musa also praises Dato’ Seri Najib Razak on his gentlemanly behavior, as he take the initiative to resign as UMNO president after losing the previous election in 2018.
“During the last election, when we need to sign supporting documents to select the Prime Minister, Najib was the last to sign. I still remember Dato Najib said “for the sake of the party” by stating the party supports Tun Mahathir as the 7th Prime Minister, despite the bad blood they had with him,” says Annuar.
“I remember after we lose the election, Dato’ Najib himself, take responsibility for the party losing GE14 and decided to resign from the party.”
“I salute and respected Dato’ Najib for handling his court cases well till the end and not dragging the party to lose terribly like now. That’s the difference between Najib and Zahid,” add Annuar Musa.
“Even Najib at his worst, we still manage to get 79 seats compared to the 30 seats we have now,” says Annuar.
Annuar was disappointed in Zahid's dishonorable conduct of not resigning as UMNO’s president and continuing to remain in his seat, rejecting new leadership.
Tired of UMNO stagnation, Annuar decided to expose the story as he is no longer a part of the UMNO party but remains as a supporter as he is only the head of UMNO in Kelantan.
“I have no interest in UMNO. However I’m giving my advice as I had been with UMNO for a long time and remind them to prioritize the party interest instead of their own,” says Annuar Musa.
Annuar also stated he was disappointed as he was pushed aside by the party, and treated as if he had betrayed them, despite doing his best to support the party during its worst time.
Annuar also share he was offered by other parties to contest in the election as their candidate but decline at the last minute due to his loyalty to UMNO.
“When they chose to not nominate me as one of their candidates, I was offered by many other parties to join them and contest for the election. At one point I had already signed the nomination forms but decided to not contest as I still love UMNO,” says Annuar Musa.
Annuar Musa was one of the many high-profile UMNO members calling for Zahid Hamidi's resignation after the coalition's devastating loss in GE15.
