MANILA, Philippines – The entire archipelago would again experience another hot and humid weather throughout the day, the state-run weather bureau said on Sunday.

Weather specialist Veronica Torres of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the weather system – the ridge or extension of the high-pressure area (HPA), the opposite of the low-pressure area  – has been largely contributing to the current weather patterns in most parts of the country.

Expecting hot temperatures during the day, the Pagasa forecaster reminded the public to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities, especially late morning to mid-afternoon, when the sun's heat is at its peak.

“If going out cannot be avoided, make sure to bring an umbrella or hat and wear light-colored clothing because light colors reflect sunlight while dark colors absorb heat,” Torres said during a 5 a.m. briefing.

The other weather system – localized thunderstorms – would bring partly cloudy to overcast skies, with isolated downpours or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country, particularly late afternoon or at night, Pagasa said.

According to Pagasa, Metro Manila would likely have 39 degrees Celsius on Sunday, while the highest would be in Cavite and Zamboanga City at 41 degrees Celsius, both falling under the extreme caution category.
