IN yet another Jalur Gemilang blunder, TCE Baby Expo issued an apology following an incident involving one of its exhibitors who displayed the national flag without the crescent moon.
The organisers of the baby goods expo said they acknowledged that it was a sensitive issue that offended Malaysians.
Following this, they said, TCE Baby Expo took immediate action by stopping and closing the kiosk of Singapore Lactation Bakes (SLB), the exhibitor responsible for the incident.
“Although the content came from the exhibitor, we do not take this issue lightly because TCE Baby Expo is built on trust and your trust is important to us.
“We ask for some time and patience from the public as we resolve this matter as best as possible,” they said said.
In addition, they said, the video showing the flag has also been taken down.
TCE Baby Expo added that it is conducting an internal investigation and working with all parties involved to ensure appropriate action is taken.
“We take this matter seriously and are reviewing our content review process to prevent this from happening again.
“Once again, we apologise for what happened and will continue to strive to protect the dignity and identity of the country,” it added.
Recently, a display of the Malaysian flag behind the stage of the Singapore Lactation Bakes booth at the TCE Baby Expo went viral on social media, reportedly lacking the crescent symbol, sparking public criticism.
The design on the backstage screen only displayed 14 stripes and a 14-pointed star without a crescent moon.
The sales expo is taking place at a leading shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur and is expected to end tomorrow.
Independent preacher Firdaus Wong Wai Hung also uploaded a picture of the SLB promotional materials which clearly displayed the Jalur Gemilang without the crescent moon on his Facebook.
“Another case of the Jalur Gemilang without the moon! Too many ‘coincidences’,” he said. – April 19, 2025
