Loke sends off passengers on Batik Air, AirAsia CNY flights

KUALA LUMPUR – In conjunction with this weekend’s Chinese New Year celebration, Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook took the opportunity to send off passengers homeward bound by air to Kota Kinabalu for the holidays late last night.

Loke stepped into Batik Air’s flight OD 7006, which was departing from Kuala Lumpur International Airport for Kota Kinabalu International Airport, and managed to conduct a pre-departure announcement, wishing everyone a safe trip home.

“Ladies and gentlemen, this is your transport minister speaking. This is flight OD 7006 bound for Kota Kinabalu.

“While we are ready for departure, please keep your seat belt fastened, pull your seat upright. Please remember to switch off all your electronic devices.

“Please sit back, relax and have a safe journey home to Kota Kinabalu. Happy Chinese New Year,” said Loke before receiving applause from the flight passengers.

Previously on January 6, Loke announced that the Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) has approved a total of 291 additional flights to various domestic destinations for the Chinese New Year celebrations in a bid to overcome airfare hikes.

Loke said the additional flights approved for the travel period from January 18 to 31 involve several airlines, such as Batik Air, AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines, MYAirline, and SKS Airways.

However, Mavcom has since revised the number of flights, increasing it to 316 to alleviate concerns about airfare hikes. – The Vibes, January 20, 2023
