Haryana State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Chief Arshinder Singh Chawla today informed that the ACB is planning to identify and honour vigilant citizens for their contribution in the fight against corruption.
He visited the Ambala and Kaithal units to review the work being carried out by the Bureau’s teams. During the visit, he also heard grievances from the general public. In Ambala people raised their grievances with the ACB chief and sought appropriate action on their respective complaints.
ACB chief Arshinder Singh Chawla said that the objective of his visit was to assess how officers and officials posted in the units are striving to achieve their assigned targets and to evaluate their understanding of anti-corruption procedures and operations. Another objective was to obtain feedback directly from the public regarding corruption-related issues, so that complaints from people who may not be able to reach the headquarters for any reason can also be brought to the Bureau’s notice.
He said that the Bureau aims to engage with citizens to identify the departments and offices where corruption has taken root and where corrective measures are required. He emphasized that the ACB is particularly focused on corrupt officials and employees who refuse to perform government duties without accepting bribes. Bureau teams are continuously working to take effective action against such elements.
Appealing to the public, Chawla said that if any officer or employee demands a bribe or refuses to perform official work without money, citizens should immediately inform the ACB. He informed that the Bureau will soon launch a simple and user-friendly mobile application. Through this app, citizens will be able to directly submit corruption-related complaints, videos, or other evidence to the ACB headquarters.
He assured that the identity of complainants would be kept confidential and that all complaints would be verified before appropriate action is taken.
The ACB Chief appreciated the work of the Kaithal unit, stating that the team had successfully carried out a trap operation in a district during the past month. He said that the Bureau is striving to ensure that at least one corrupt official or employee is caught through effective action in every district each month, thereby maintaining a deterrent effect against corruption.
The ACB chief said that efforts are being made to encourage officers and employees who perform exceptionally well in the Bureau. Based on an assessment of performance over the next six months, the best-performing officers and employees will be honoured.
Chawla stated that records are being compiled of cases since 2021 in which citizens played a significant role in helping apprehend corrupt officials and employees and continued to support the legal process until the final court verdict. The Bureau is planning to identify and honour such vigilant citizens for their contribution in the fight against corruption.
