CHIEF Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the State Government is going ahead with its plan to table the Anti-Party Hopping Bill at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting expected to be held at the end of next month.

“We will bring or introduce this Bill during the DUN sitting. This Bill cannot be tabled now because the General Election will be held soon.

“But, the Bill would require support from the opposition because we need to have a two-thirds majority,” he said.

Hajiji, who is also Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Chairman, dismissed rumours that four GRS assemblymen were leaving the coalition to join the opposition.

Pitas Assemblyman Dato’ Sri Ruddy Awah, Kemabong Assemblyman Datuk Rubin Balang, Kuamut Assemblyman Datuk Masiung Banah and Nabawan Assemblyman Datuk Abdul Ghani Mohd Yassin were rumoured to be following the footsteps of Bandau’s Datuk Wetrom Bahanda who left Bersatu and GRS to join Warisan last Saturday.

Ruddy, Rubin and Masiung issued a separate statement that they remained loyal to GRS and fully supported Hajiji.

At the same, Hajiji said he was unsure whether Wetrom was truly quitting because there was no official announcement from him, except in social media.

“Mana ada lompat (that is not true) (referring to the four). I do not know about the other one (Wetrom) whether he jumped or not because there is yet any official announcement from him,” he said, when met after officiating the 2022 Sabah Public Service Pensioners Appreciation ceremony at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), Kota Kinabalu, on Oct 18.

Wetrom was pictured sitting with Warisan President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal during the party’s programme at Gaya Street the following day. But he had yet to officially announce joining Warisan. Shafie also said the party had to see first if Wetrom was truly winnable in the coming GE15.
