Manchester United attacker Antony rejected a bumper bonus to stay with Ajax.
De Telegraaf's Mike Verweij reports Ajax offered the Brazilian a bonus of "€2-2.5m" to stick with Ajax for one more season.
He recalled: "Antony was promised a bonus that if he stayed for one more season, he would get several million. That was really a decent amount. I heard €2-2.5m and he seemed to agree with that.
"Only then came the mega offer from United and he could see what he could earn there. Then he wanted to leave. It was also very crazy. In an interview he actually said he was very happy at Ajax and at a certain point the new offer came in.
"Then he insisted on leaving, he made war and he did not come anymore (to Ajax). It was a moment at Ajax that they hoped he would stick with it for one more season."
