DATUK Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on all Malaysians to recognise and appreciate the vital role of women, who contribute far beyond managing households and play a central part in advancing the nation’s development.

Marking International Women’s Day, the Prime Minister described women as the lifeblood of families, the structural pillars of society, and indispensable agents of national progress. He also spoke personally about the immense value of women in his own life.

“To my wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, and our children, I express my deepest gratitude for always being a source of strength, patience, and unwavering support throughout my journey,” he said in a Facebook post today.

“Behind every strong family and thriving community lies the sacrifice, resilience, and wisdom of women who tirelessly pour their love and care into building a better future.

“This same strength radiates from millions of women across the country – mothers, wives, daughters, educators, caregivers, and community leaders – who quietly strive for the wellbeing of their families and the nation,” he added.

Anwar urged the nation to honour women’s contributions and ensure they are respected, empowered, and granted equal opportunities to participate meaningfully in the country’s development.

“You are the strength, hope, and future of our nation,” he affirmed.

Anwar’s message comes amid broader government initiatives to elevate women’s economic, social, and leadership roles, reinforcing their status as critical drivers of Malaysia’s inclusive and sustainable growth. - March 8, 2026
