Anwar Ibrahim congratulates BN on its Negeri Sembilan election win and pledges the Federal Government’s full support for the new state administration.

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has congratulated Barisan Nasional (BN) on its victory in the Negeri Sembilan state election and pledged the Federal Government’s full cooperation with the state’s new administration after the coalition secured a two-thirds majority, ending Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) eight-year rule.

Earlier, BN announced that it would form the new Negeri Sembilan government with coalition partner Perikatan Nasional (PN) after the alliance secured 25 of the 36 state seats, based on unofficial results at press time.

In a statement tonight, Anwar also expressed his appreciation to the people of Negeri Sembilan for participating in the democratic process and exercising their right to vote.

He thanked voters who placed their trust in PH and Datuk Seri Utama Aminuddin Harun, who served as Menteri Besar for the past eight years.

“Alhamdulillah, throughout that period, Pakatan Harapan left behind a legacy of exemplary administration founded on good governance, stability and development that benefited the people.

“May this legacy continue to be strengthened for the progress of Negeri Sembilan,” he said.

Anwar said the Federal Government would continue to extend its full cooperation and support to the new Negeri Sembilan government to ensure the continued well-being, prosperity and development of the state and its people.
