KULAI, July 4 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasised that the visit by Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) top leadership to Johor is not intended to stir conflict, but rather to put forward policy measures designed to uplift the welfare of the state’s people.

“This Johor state election is our way of helping the people. Has the Johor government not helped? They have, but much of the funding comes from the federal government.

“So be smart about it, whether we win or lose here, I remain the prime minister,” he said in his speech at the Kita Genk MADANI Johor event today.

The prime minister also noted that Johor is not only among the states receiving the highest allocations from the federal government, but has also seen numerous large-scale projects implemented to benefit its people.

“Many major federal projects are underway, such as the RTS (Rapid Transit System) project and the JS-SEZ (Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone). These are big projects,” he said.

Meanwhile, Anwar called on all Johoreans, including those residing outside the state, to fulfil their civic duty in the upcoming 16th Johor State Election.

“So friends, take up this challenge. Young people in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, come back and vote. This vote does not come around often. This is about your future,” he said.

A total of 172 candidates are contesting for 56 state seats in the Johor election, with polling day set for July 11 and early voting on July 7. PH is fielding candidates in all 56 seats.
