PENAMPANG: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim became the first Prime Minister ever to attend the State-level Kaamatan Festival celebration here Wednesday.
Accompanied by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, the Prime Minister arrived at the Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association (KDCA) Hongkod Koisaan hall at 9.40 am.
They were welcomed by KDCA President, Huguan Siou Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan who is also the State Kaamatan Festival Main Organising Committee Chairman, as well as other State and KDCA leaders.
In his speech, Anwar announced the Federal Government will provide RM1 million for organising next year’s Kaamatan Festival.

Next week, Anwar will be in Sarawak to attend the Gawai Festival.
