PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has described the “Teres Grafik Manusia” (Human Graphic Terrace) performance showcased during the 2025 National Day celebrations as the most impressive in the country’s history.
The large-scale presentation, involving more than 2,000 schoolchildren from across the country, was praised for embodying the patriotic spirit of Malaysians while reflecting the creativity and collective energy of the younger generation.
“I am proud of the children. This is the best performance in Malaysia’s history. Study well and keep up the good work,” said the Prime Minister in brief remarks after expressing his gratitude directly to the student participants.
The National Day celebration, held at Dataran Putrajaya, saw Anwar walking approximately 500 metres along the main thoroughfare after the official proceedings to greet members of the public.
Waving and conversing with visitors, the Prime Minister was met with enthusiasm, particularly from children delighted by the rare opportunity to interact with him.
Anwar was accompanied by both Deputy Prime Ministers, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, along with the Minister of Communications, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.
Both Deputy Prime Ministers lauded the event as a success, commending its role in fostering unity and rekindling national pride. Speaking to reporters, Ahmad Zahid said, “I wish everyone a Happy National Day. May unity among all Malaysians continue to grow, and may we set aside our differences.”
Echoing his sentiments, Fadillah said, “The performances were excellent in uplifting the spirit of togetherness. What matters is that we remain united to ensure Malaysia continues to prosper for the wellbeing of all.”
Throughout Anwar’s walkabout, many attendees took the opportunity to snap photos of the Prime Minister, with families and children visibly thrilled to be part of the event.
His decision to meet the public in person, without strict protocols, was widely seen as a reflection of the government’s commitment to remaining close to the people, in line with this year’s theme, ‘Malaysia MADANI: Rakyat Disantuni’.
Following the conclusion of the celebrations, Anwar was scheduled to depart for China at 11am to attend a series of official engagements.
Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil noted that although the Prime Minister has visited China on several previous occasions, this trip carries special significance due to its timing.
“He has visited China many times, but this will be a particularly important moment because we want to strengthen bilateral relations, especially in conjunction with Malaysia’s Merdeka and China’s National Day,” said Fahmi. “So, I believe this is a very pleasant time for both countries.”
The official visit is expected to further reinforce Malaysia’s economic, cultural and political ties with Beijing, as both nations celebrate their national days.
This year’s National Day celebration drew over 100,000 people from all walks of life to Dataran Putrajaya.
The event officially began at 8 am, but dignitaries started arriving as early as 6.30 am. His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim made a memorable entrance, personally driving a red Proton Satria Neo, accompanied by Raja Permaisuri Agong Raja Zarith Sofiah.
The grand celebration featured a total of 14,062 participants in the official parade, comprising various government agencies, security forces, school students and community organisations.
“We made several additions this year compared to last,” said Fahmi.
“We included side events around the Dataran Monumen Alaf Baru. The Riuh Merdeka programme continued until 6pm with a range of performances, food stalls, drinks and local product showcases. I’m very proud and very happy. Alhamdulillah, all plans went smoothly as arranged.”
Fahmi highlighted the Human Graphic performance in particular, noting that the over 2,000 participating students had undergone more than two months of training. “It truly was the best performance we have ever witnessed,” he said.
He also expressed pride in the patriotic spirit shown by Malaysians who camped overnight and arrived early in the morning to witness the historic celebration.
He added that there are plans for improvements in future events, particularly regarding more strategic placement of media photographers to ensure better coverage. - August 31, 2025
