A recent survey conducted by local pollster Endeavor-MGC (EMGC) has revealed that an overwhelming 73 per cent of respondents from marginal state seats in Selangor expressed satisfaction with Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's performance as prime minister. The findings indicate strong support for the Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman, with 52 per cent of respondents considering him the most suitable candidate for the position, while only 26 per cent expressed dissatisfaction, and a mere one per cent remained unsure.

In a noteworthy contrast, only 18 per cent of respondents chose Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as their preferred prime ministerial candidate. Convicted former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang both secured 6 per cent of the respondents' support, while former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar garnered 3 per cent.

The survey involved 1,068 registered voters from marginal seats in Selangor, a key state where voters are set to cast their ballots on August 12 to elect new state governments in Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Negeri Sembilan, Penang, and Selangor itself. Interestingly, most seats in Selangor will witness a head-to-head contest between PH and PN, setting the stage for a highly competitive electoral battle.

The positive sentiment towards Anwar Ibrahim's leadership in Selangor aligns with the results of a previous survey conducted by the Selangor government-linked think-tank, Institut Darul Ehsan (IDE), which found that 73.4 per cent of respondents viewed Anwar's leadership positively. Additionally, 26.3 per cent of respondents expressed their belief in his ability to lead the country towards excellence.

These surveys demonstrate the significant groundswell of support for Anwar Ibrahim's leadership in Selangor, propelling him as the favoured choice for prime minister. His ability to garner such strong backing suggests that his policies and vision for the country resonate with a significant portion of the electorate.

As election day approaches, political analysts predict that Selangor will be a crucial battleground, with the outcome potentially shaping the national political landscape. Anwar's popularity in the state could significantly impact PH's performance, and the strong support might encourage his party and coalition to mobilize further resources to secure a victory in the upcoming polls.

In conclusion, the Endeavor-MGC survey highlights the widespread satisfaction with Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's performance as a prime minister among voters in marginal state seats in Selangor. With the majority favouring him as the most suitable candidate for the position, Anwar's strong support in the state could have significant implications for the upcoming elections. As voters head to the polls, all eyes will be on Selangor as a critical battleground that could shape the future of the nation's leadership.
