PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was visibly moved witnessing Malaysians from all walks of life gathering in harmony at the “Our Malaysia Story” event held last night.

Speaking about the event, which forms part of the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VMY2026) celebrations, he described it as an important platform to showcase the country’s culture, natural beauty and historical heritage, all of which symbolise national pride and identity.

In his Facebook post, the Prime Minister emphasised that the event served as a reminder that the nation’s greatest strength lies in its unity.

“Indeed, we have immense potential to elevate this framework as an example for all. While economic indicators provide confidence that Malaysia is on the right path, we must recognise that progress is never easy,” he wrote.

He added, “Ultimately, it requires commitment, collaboration and the conviction that we are not only capable, but obliged to realise it with all our efforts.”

Highlighting the role of tourism in national development, Anwar stressed that it will continue to be a key driver of the country’s growth.

At the same time, he called on Malaysians to reflect ethical conduct and professionalism in all endeavours.

“Our smiles, behaviour, work ethic and service must represent the country’s face to the world. Therefore, it must be emphasised that we can only advance if everyone contributes and plays their part, supported and safeguarded, as Malaysia must stride forward together, united,” he said. -  January 31, 2026
