Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has made a strong appeal for an end to the ongoing political disputes centered around race and regional divisions, emphasizing the need for unity to foster national development. The Prime Minister underscored that resolving these issues with the cooperation of all parties is essential for the country’s progress and its standing on the global stage.

Anwar expressed that the responsibility for national growth and unity does not rest solely on the shoulders of the Prime Minister, ministers, or state governments. Instead, he called on all Malaysians, including fishermen, smallholders, and those working in both the public and private sectors, to contribute to this collective effort.

He highlighted Malaysia’s recent achievements as evidence of what unity can accomplish. “Thanks to our unified efforts, we have achieved a 5.9% Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth, better than many other Asian countries,” Anwar remarked. This success, he pointed out, demonstrates the potential for even greater accomplishments if the nation can come together to address its challenges.

Anwar, who also serves as the Finance Minister, made these comments during the launch of the Bumiputra Economic Transformation Plan 2035 (Putera35) at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) on Monday, August 19. The event was attended by several key figures, including Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli, and other Cabinet ministers.

The Putera35 plan, themed "Meaningful Bumiputra Participation, Ownership, and Mastery," is designed to bolster the contributions of the Bumiputra community through a more cohesive and integrated approach. Anwar acknowledged that while he doesn’t often speak publicly about Bumiputra economic issues, he places great importance on ensuring the effective implementation of policies that support the community rather than merely publicizing them.

He also urged all ministries to seek innovative strategies to assist the Bumiputra community, moving beyond traditional departmental boundaries. "It is no longer just the affairs of this ministry or that department. I would like to thank the Cabinet for being open on this matter," Anwar said, indicating a collective government effort to address these issues.

In a move to promote inclusivity and mutual growth, Anwar suggested that government-linked investment companies like Khazanah Nasional take an active role in training qualified non-Bumiputras. Concurrently, he encouraged successful non-Bumiputra companies to offer training opportunities to young Bumiputras. This joint national initiative, according to Anwar, is crucial for ensuring that all communities in Malaysia have the opportunity to thrive.

Anwar’s speech at the event reflects his broader vision of a united Malaysia, where economic progress is shared among all its citizens, regardless of race or background. By focusing on meaningful participation and the implementation of targeted policies, he aims to create a more inclusive and prosperous future for the nation.

The Prime Minister’s call to end divisive politics and focus on collective growth is a reminder of the importance of unity in achieving national goals. His emphasis on practical solutions over rhetoric signals a commitment to tangible progress, which he believes is essential for Malaysia to realize its full potential on the international stage.
