Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim demands apology from PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim over alleged defamatory remarks
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has issued a letter of demand (LOD) to PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, seeking a public apology over remarks alleged to be defamatory.
Anwar’s lawyer Datuk SN Nair said that the allegedly defamatory remarks were made outside Parliament on June 14 and were subsequently republished on social media.
“The letter of demand requires Tuan Ibrahim to immediately withdraw the statements in question and issue an unconditional public apology.
“It also requires him to provide a written undertaking not to repeat the allegations, as well as to pay damages and legal costs,” Nair said in a statement today.
The lawyer added that Tuan Ibrahim had been given 48 hours to respond, failing which he had been instructed to commence legal proceedings without further notice.
