Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that all the newly-appointed government ministers had agreed to take a 20% salary cut from their monthly income.

He said in a press conference after chairing a special cabinet meeting in Putrajaya today that the pay cut would maintain until the economy completely recovered.

He stated that the move is being made for sharing people’s concerns, given the recent rise in commodity prices.

“If the economy recovers in three years’ time, we will review the policy then.

He also thanked the ministers in agreeing to the pay cut and their sacrifices and willingness.

The prime minister, who also serves as Finance Minister, has repeatedly stated that the Cabinet’s top goals are steps to lessen the burden on the public and initiatives to revive the economy.
