Anwar must clarify alleged leak of JAC minutes, says PN

PERIKATAN Nasional (PN) has demanded Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim provide a public explanation over the alleged leak of minutes from a Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) meeting, which recently circulated on social media.

PAS Information Chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari warned that if the allegations are proven true and remain unaddressed, they could severely compromise the integrity of the judiciary and damage the Prime Minister’s credibility.

“The Prime Minister is urged to immediately offer an open and transparent explanation to the public,” he said in a Facebook post on Sunday.

The controversy erupted after a document—purportedly an extract of JAC meeting minutes dated May—surfaced online, raising questions about transparency and the independence of Malaysia’s judicial institutions.

Ahmad Fadhli further stressed that any parties found attempting to undermine judicial integrity must be held accountable, regardless of rank or affiliation.

“A warning is also issued to all members of the judiciary, particularly senior judges, not to collude in any effort that could tarnish the justice system,” he added.

“Justice, when upheld, does not recognise status or position.”

Echoing these concerns, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Information Chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz said the allegations have deepened an already growing trust deficit in the Prime Minister’s leadership.

In a separate Facebook statement, Tun Faisal claimed the leak reflects broader failures in governance, financial management, law enforcement, and legal oversight.

“Anwar has failed to defend institutional independence and is now the root cause of a national confidence crisis,” he said.

He called for an independent and transparent investigation into the alleged leak of the JAC meeting contents.

“The rakyat must rise. All who value justice and wish to protect the judiciary and save this nation must rally in large numbers for the 'Himpunan Turun Anwar' protest on 26 July,” he added.

“As Malaysians, we are collectively responsible for stopping this malignant cancer spreading through our national institutions and for rescuing the country we love.” - July 13, 2025
