Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim vows to enhance federal-state collaboration for immediate flood action and water management solutions

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening federal-state cooperation on floods.

He said this ensures immediate and proactive action in addressing floods and national water management.

Anwar emphasised this point while chairing the seventh National Water Council Meeting today.

The meeting serves as the highest platform for coordinating water policy between federal and state governments.

“In reality, dealing with disasters requires strong synergy and firm resolve between the federal and state governments,” he said in a Facebook post.

“Therefore, we will continue to strengthen cooperation to formulate comprehensive solutions.”

This includes ensuring close monitoring and the immediate implementation of flood mitigation projects.

The meeting reviewed the current flood status affecting several states.

Anwar expressed his highest appreciation to all front-line responders at federal and state levels.

He thanked those committed to helping people affected by the disaster.

The meeting also received a detailed briefing on the operational status of dams nationwide.

This is to ensure all water resource infrastructure remains at an optimum, safe and resilient level.

“God willing, all decisions agreed upon today will be translated into immediate and proactive actions,” Anwar said.

This action is for the sake of safeguarding the welfare, safety and well-being of the people. – Bernama
