Anwar recovers from surgery, misses Tabung Haji RCI parliamentary debate

PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was absent from a special parliamentary sitting convened to debate the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Lembaga Tabung Haji, as he continues his recovery under specialist medical care.

In a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office on Tuesday, Anwar apologised for his absence from the proceedings, whilst assuring the public that he would follow the debate intently to ensure the institution's responsibilities to the Muslim community remain safeguarded.

The statement also conveyed the Prime Minister's gratitude to Malaysians for their prayers and greetings on the occasion of his 79th birthday on Monday.

“Alhamdulillah, the Prime Minister’s health is improving and he will continue to undergo physiotherapy under the supervision of a team of medical specialists.”

Anwar expressed regret over being unable to attend the special sitting in person and offered his prayers for a smooth session.

“At the same time, the Prime Minister also apologised for being unable to attend the special sitting to debate the Tabung Haji RCI report and prayed for the proceedings to run smoothly.”

“Despite his physical absence, the Prime Minister will follow the debate closely to ensure that the trust entrusted to the Islamic institution continues to be safeguarded.”
