On May 8 2023 shouts of "reformasi, reformasi" once again filled the air at Pavillion with screening of "Anwar" the movie" taking us back to the 90s when Anwar led the movement under the banner of PKR challenging Tun Mahathir's government.

Sinar Harian reports "Anwar Ibrahim who is the inspiration for the movie 'Anwar, The Untold Story' arrives at the premiere screening at Dadi Cinema in Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur" to shouts of reformasi at the shopping mall.

For one who craves for popularity this event and the film will certainly go far to help boost PMX's desire to be more admired and perhaps idolised as a popular leader.

The crowd cheered for him when he showed up just the way Najib was often welcomed by his supporters with shouts of "Malu apa Bossku!" wherever he went particularly during state elections of Johor and Melaka.

The public screening of 'Anwar, The Untold Story' will be held simultaneously in all major cinemas throughout the country, beginning May 18, 2023 could not be better timed to help PMX's coalition campaign for voter support in forthcoming state elections due possibly in July or August.

The movie, directed by Indonesian director Viva Westi, stars actor Farid Kamil in the lead role as Anwar, while Acha Septriasa plays Dr Wan Azizah could well serve as a backdrop for PH's campaign in state elections and help raise Anwar's popularity as a prime minister and leader of the coalition.

"The story portrays Anwar's political career as he battles corruption in the country while going through challenges and struggles.

"It is reported that real events in Anwar's life from the time he became finance minister in 1993 until his termination in 1998 served as inspiration for the story." (Sinar Daily)

The movie, produced by Bianglala Entertainment costing RM10 million, was shot in Malaysia and Indonesia will undoubtedly rake in more than its initial investment in Malaysian cinemas. It could well be another box office hit may be as good as Mat Kilau.

But more importantly, it will be boosting Anwar's popularity amongst Malay youths looking for a political idol.

Looking at the crowd and hearing the loud chants we are sure the youths may have found what they are looking for.

Unfortunately, the youths of Kelantan may not get a chance to see the movie because PAS banned public cinemas in the state.

For this state, PH may need other medium to capture support of youths in the state.

But cinemas are still in abundant in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan, two other states that will hold elections to elect representatives to their local legislative assemblies.

The screening may help boost PH's campaigns to retain seats won in previous elections.

However, whether this wave of popularity will translate into votes in forthcoming state elections remain to be seen.

But for now, Anwar is still popular riding high on the waves of support from the release of a movie bearing his name.
