LABUAN: The Chinese Chamber of Commerce here expressed full support to the Madani Unity Government’s decision to shelve the controversial Labuan-Menumbok bridge that would have cost RM6 billion.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim rejected the latest request to build the bridge by Labuan Corporation Chairman Senator Tan Sri Anifah Aman during the meet-and greet session at the convention hall of the Financial Park last Friday.

He said the bridge’s construction made no economic sense under the present economic scenario.

Former PM Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri also indicated during his visit here in October 2022 that it was difficult to implement the project due to immense cost.
