Kota Kinabalu: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he initiated the application for Datuk Seri Najib Razak's royal pardon to be included in the Pardons Board agenda, it has been reported.
Despite his strong criticism of the 1MDB scandal, Anwar emphasised compassion in the judicial process, stating that even individuals who have been jailed deserve consideration for a pardon, NST reported.
AdvertisementAnwar said when such an appeal is made, it is presented to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, and cannot be overlooked.
He made these remarks during a session in the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday.
