KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today brushed off speculation that former minister Khairy Jamaluddin would be returning to his Cabinet.
“Is that so… who told you?” the PM was quoted saying by Utusan Malaysia.
His brief remark came after a Malaysia Gazette report claimed that a major Cabinet reshuffle could take place in early December, with Khairy tipped to be appointed as natural resources and environmental sustainability minister.
The report suggested that the reshuffle would focus on strengthening the government’s economic team, reducing the size of the Cabinet and ensuring policy continuity.
It also alleged that Johari Ghani is expected to be named investment, trade and industry minister, while the economy ministry could be merged under the finance ministry.
Other possible adjustments mentioned include the promotion of Deputy Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister R Ramanan to full minister, along with several changes at the deputy minister level. - November 12, 2025
