Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim thanked US Ambassador Edgard Kagan for his role in enhancing Malaysia-US strategic relations during a farewell meeting.

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim received a courtesy call from outgoing United States Ambassador to Malaysia, Edgard D Kagan.

In a Facebook post, Anwar said the meeting was an opportunity to express appreciation for Kagan’s contributions in strengthening strategic ties before his return to Washington.

He noted that bilateral cooperation has spanned key sectors including trade, investment, education, digital development, technology and security.

“The close relationship between our two countries remains vital in driving economic growth and expanding cooperation that benefits our people,” Anwar said.

Kagan, who began serving as the 22nd US Ambassador to Malaysia in December 2023, will conclude his tenure on Feb 16.

He had previously served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the embassy.
