
PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is expected to deliver “good news” regarding food items tomorrow, says communication minister Fahmi Fadzil.
Fahmi, however, did not reveal any details of the announcements.
“We await the prime minister’s announcement tomorrow, which pertains to everyday food items that are essential to our daily lives,” he told reporters after launching Mydin Mart in Pantai Dalam here today.
“But it shows that there is good cooperation between the federal government and the industrial sector. There is an understanding that our intention is for the people.”

Read more When asked if the announcement will be about rice, Fahmi told the media to wait for Anwar tomorrow.
On Monday, agriculture and food security minister Mohamad Sabu said the government will finalise the revision of the price ceiling for local white rice by October.
He said the matter was still at the discussion stage but would be finalised soon.
Last November, the padi and rice regulatory division under the agriculture and food security ministry said that the price ceiling for local white rice should be increased from RM2.60 to RM3.20 per kg.
