PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to update the Dewan Rakyat today on the outcomes of his recent meeting with United States President Donald Trump, including discussions on trade, humanitarian issues in Gaza and wider strategic collaboration between Malaysia and the US.
According to the Order Paper published on the Parliament website, Suhaizan Kaiat (PH–Pulai) will ask the Prime Minister to elaborate on the benefits of the meeting, particularly in strengthening bilateral ties across key economic and policy areas.
In a separate question, Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar) will seek an update on the MADANI Government’s progress in eradicating hardcore and overall poverty – a continued focus of parliamentary scrutiny amid the administration’s broader socioeconomic reform agenda.
Housing policy will also come under discussion. Pang Hok Liong (PH–Labis) is set to ask the Minister of Housing and Local Government about the ministry’s readiness to implement the 10:90 ‘build-then-sell’ (BTS) housing scheme nationwide.
The initiative aims to prevent abandoned housing projects, particularly condominium developments, and protect homebuyers. Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias (BN–Jelebu) is also expected to question whether large-scale housing projects will be required to include essential facilities such as schools and childcare centres before approval is granted.
Economic and industrial issues will be raised by Datuk Ahmad Amzad Mohamed @ Hashim (PN–Kuala Terengganu), who will ask the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry to outline the main outcomes of the ASEAN Semiconductor Summit (ASEMIS) 2025. His question will focus on measures to boost Malaysia’s semiconductor exports, enhance regional value chain participation and strengthen domestic technological competitiveness.
The Dewan Rakyat will later move to the winding-up session for the Supply Bill (Budget) 2026 at the policy stage, with relevant ministries expected to present their responses.
The Third Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 15th Parliament is scheduled to continue for 35 days until 4 December. - October 30, 2025
