Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (pic) said he will discuss Transport Minister Anthony Loke’s resignation with him after receiving his resignation letter on Monday.
Anwar said there was no issue with Loke’s performance as Transport Minister, describing it as very good.
“Loke only submitted his resignation letter yesterday... What is the problem with his work? His work is good, his performance as a minister is very good. That is why I will discuss it with him,” he told reporters after officiating at the launch of Malaysia Professional Day here Tuesday.
Anwar also questioned why attention was being focused on Loke’s resignation when issues involving corruption, plundering and misappropriation had also been raised.
“Why ask someone who did not ‘sakau’ to resign? I really want to ask, what are we trying to do with this country? We put aside the issue of corruption and discuss Loke’s resignation instead,” he said.
Loke earlier confirmed that he had submitted his resignation letter as a Cabinet member to Anwar on Monday.
