Kota Kinabalu: The Penampang Development Plan to be used as a government input will be unveiled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Nov 18, says Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick.
He said the launch will be held in conjunction with the launching of the National Hawkers and Small Traders’ Day (HPPK) celebration in Penampang.
“As Penampang Member of Parliament, I used my parliamentary allocation to fund the study and preparation of the Penampang Development Plan.
“It is currently being prepared by the Sabah Institute of Development Studies (IDS).

He said his Ministry had requested that this year’s HPPK celebration be held in Penampang.
“The Prime Minister has agreed and confirmed his presence to inaugurate the celebration,” he said during the 12th PCCCI committee installation at Wisma Hakka.
Victor Kou was elected the President of PCCCI for the 2023-2025 term.
Ewon said the Penampang Development Plan would contribute to both federal and state government development plans, including the annual budget preparation.
He expressed appreciation for the contribution and role of PCCCI and hoped the new leadership would continue to bring economic development to the district.
“All ethnic groups in this country have rights and roles. Therefore, I hope PCCCI will continue to play a role in the development of entrepreneurship and the national economy, especially in the Penampang district, including the development of the established cooperative movement.
“I will support the good efforts carried out by all parties, including PCCCI which will develop a digital-based entrepreneurship centre in their office.
“I will be part of this implementation, including channelling appropriate allocations next year,” he said.
Also present were Consul General of China in Kota Kinabalu Huang Shifang, Sabah Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Phoong Jin Zhe and Sabah United Chinese Chamber of Commerce President Tan Sri Andrew Liew Sui Fatt.
