Delivering a tausiyah during a community programme organised by the Federal Territories Mufti Department at the Bandar Baru Seri Petaling Jamek Mosque, Anwar stressed that faith and moral conduct must guide the nation’s progress. He reminded the audience that Islam is built upon knowledge, charity, compassion, and a deep sense of responsibility, qualities that were central to the Prophet’s leadership and remain vital for society.
He pointed to history, recalling how figures like Salahuddin al-Ayyubi drew strength from religious knowledge, unity, and awareness, which eventually led to the reconquest of Jerusalem. In the same way, Anwar said, Malaysians must anchor themselves in values that promote justice, kindness, and solidarity to achieve national strength and resilience.
The Malaysia MADANI framework, according to him, is not a partial vision confined to economics or politics but a holistic concept that encompasses education, social harmony, governance, and economic growth. He underlined the importance of instilling Islamic knowledge in schools, encouraging Muslim students not only to study but also to internalise the teachings of their faith.
Turning to the economy, the prime minister highlighted that recent foreign investments from countries such as the United States, Russia, and Brazil have strengthened trade and growth. He described this as an act of service to the nation, linking economic expansion with the moral duty to uplift society.
Anwar also underscored the principle of fairness in Malaysia MADANI, saying that protecting the welfare of citizens must remain a priority. He cited the government’s move to raise civil servants’ allowances and salaries to record levels, alongside encouraging government-linked companies and profitable private firms to reward their employees more fairly.
Leaders, he reminded, must never exploit wealth for personal benefit but instead focus on safeguarding those in need. He added that a true MADANI nation cannot merely announce policies but must deliver tangible results without leaving gaps between promises and implementation.
Acknowledging the role of criticism in democracy, Anwar welcomed dissent provided it is expressed respectfully and without malice. He concluded by echoing the Malay Rulers’ recent Maulidur Rasul message, stressing that morality must remain the foundation of governance and public life.
