PM Anwar urges Negeri Sembilan voters to reject racial politics and vote for development that benefits all Malaysians, ahead of polling day.
SEREMBAN: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on Negeri Sembilan voters to reject racial politics and cast their ballots based on the state’s future as polling gets underway tomorrow.
In a message posted on the eve of polling, Anwar said development should benefit every Malaysian regardless of race, urging voters to reject divisive rhetoric.
“All forms of racial rhetoric must be rejected because we believe the benefits of development must be enjoyed by every citizen regardless of race,” he said.
He also wished the people of Negeri Sembilan well as they prepared to cast their ballots in what he described as an important democratic exercise.
“Happy voting to all the people of Negeri Sembilan who will be taking part in the democratic process tomorrow,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission (EC) said it has completed all preparations for polling day, with election materials ready for distribution to heads of polling stations.
A total of 15,344 election workers will be deployed across 401 polling centres to serve 859,760 registered ordinary voters statewide.
The EC advised voters not to wait until the final hours to cast their ballots and encouraged them to vote according to the recommended time slots stated in the MySPR Semak application.
Polling will generally take place from 8am to 6pm, subject to the gazetted operating hours of individual polling centres.
Voters have also been reminded to bring their MyKad for identity verification and to check their polling details, including their polling centre, voting stream and voter number, through the MySPR Semak portal, mobile application, EC hotline or polling centre information counters before arriving.
The commission also reminded employers to provide reasonable time for employees who are registered voters to fulfil their voting responsibilities, as required under the Election Offences Act 1954.
The EC reiterated that the official campaign period ends at 11.59pm today, after which all forms of campaigning, including canvassing for votes on social media platforms such as Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok and Threads, must cease.
Political parties and candidates are also prohibited from setting up or operating campaign booths on polling day.
In addition, the use of mobile phones inside voting streams is prohibited. Voters carrying phones will be required to place them in designated areas after receiving their ballot papers and retrieve them only after casting their votes.
The EC also reminded voters, candidates and election workers not to wear or carry clothing or materials displaying political party logos, candidate images, campaign slogans or symbols when entering polling centres.
Official results for all state constituencies will be announced after the completion of the vote tallying process, the commission said.
