
DATUK Seri Anwar Ibrahim today wished former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad a happy 101st birthday.
The Prime Minister and Finance Minister, through an entry on social media, also prayed that Dr Mahathir would continue to be blessed by Allah SWT.
"May Tun continue to be blessed, in good health and be in His blessings, God willing," said the Tambun Member of Parliament.
Dr Mahathir, who is also a former Member of Parliament for Langkawi, was born in Kampung Seberang Perak, Alor Setar, Kedah, on July 10, 1925.
The former UMNO and BERSATU President was also the longest-serving Prime Minister in Malaysia, holding the position twice.
He first served as the Fourth Prime Minister from 1981 to 2003, before being reappointed to the position from 2018 to 2020.
After retirement, Dr Mahathir remained an active political figure, and using the pen name 'Che Det', he wrote many articles.
These include those published in newspapers, in addition to bringing about many developments through policies and plans inspired by the successes of foreign countries during his administration.
Among the mega projects developed during his administration were the Penang Bridge, the Petronas Twin Towers, the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), the Multimedia Super Corridor, the Putrajaya Administrative Centre and the Sepang International Circuit. – July 10, 2026
