Apollo 16 astronaut Charlie Duke recorded a heartfelt message for the Artemis II crew on their journey to the Moon.
The historic mission launched on 1 April, carrying the first crewed mission to the Moon since Apollo 17 in 1972.
Mr Duke, now 90, became the youngest person to walk on the Moon at 36 years old. Whilst there, he left a photograph of his family on the surface.
“On the Moon is a photo of my family. I pray it reminds you that we and America and all of the world are cheering you on," Mr Duke told the Artemis II crew.
"Fitting that they hear his words as they close in on their lunar destination," Nasa said.
