PUTRAJAYA: The Court of Appeal has fixed Feb 28 and 29 next year to hear the prosecution’s appeal to reinstate four corruption charges brought against Muhyiddin Yassin relating to his administration’s Jana Wibawa programme.

The charges accused the former prime minister of abusing his powers to obtain RM232.5 million for his political party, Bersatu.

The hearing dates were fixed during case management today.

The court also instructed the prosecution and Muhyiddin’s defence team to file submissions by Feb 26.

Justice Jamil Hussin held that the charges were defective and did not disclose any offence known to law.

The court went on to acquit Muhyiddin of the four charges.

Besides the four corruption charges, Muhyiddin is facing three counts of money laundering totalling RM200 million.

The prosecution has filed a bid to suspend the money laundering case before the sessions court pending their appeal to reinstate the corruption charges.

Previously, Muhyiddin’s lawyers said they would be filing an application to quash the money laundering charges.
