With the release of the new Apple Silicon M6 and M5 Ultra, Apple also took the chance to release new Mac mini and Mac Studio SKUs that are running more powerful chips than ever.
Starting with the Mac mini, it will be offered in either the M6 or M5 Pro, with Apple claiming up to 4x faster AI performance, up to 2x faster graphics and storage, and up to 40 percent faster CPU performance with the M6 compared to the previous generation. Specifically for M5 Pro, it can host up to 18-core CPU and 20-core GPU for users handling more demanding workload.
Connectivity also getting an update to now support Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, while 2.5Gb Ethernet is now included, with a 10Gb Ethernet option available for those who need even faster wired networking.
Meanwhile, the Mac Studio can now be picked up with the M5 Max or M5 Ultra inside, with the former powering an 18-core CPU + up to a 40-core GPU + up to 128GB of unified memory, but the M5 Ultra is rocking a 36-core CPU, 80-core GPU and 512GB of unified memory, with memory bandwidth reaching 1.2TB/s. Apple says it can deliver up to 4.3x the peak AI compute performance of the M3 Ultra, along with up to 1.8x faster graphics and 1.3x faster CPU performance.
Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 is here to stay, while Thunderbolt 5 provides the bandwidth needed for high-speed external storage and PCIe expansion. Apple even says multiple Mac Studio systems can be clustered over Thunderbolt 5 for distributed AI inference, delivering up to 3x the performance of a single system in certain workloads.
Both models will be updated to the latest specs starting August 27 in Malaysia, and can be picked up through the official website.
