Apple’s M2-powered MacBook Air 13 gets a price cut of up to RM900

Following the reveal of the new MacBook Air 13 and 15 powered by the M3 chip, Apple has finally discontinued its M1-powered MacBook Air 13 as well as the M2-powered MacBook Air 15. Replacing its position as the “entry-level” MacBook, the M2-powered MacBook 13 has gotten a price cut in Malaysia which is quite massive if you go for the 512GB model.

Previously priced at RM5,199, the base MacBook Air 13 (M2 with 8-core CPU and 8-core GPU) with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage, is now going for RM4,799 which is a reduction of RM400. For students, teachers and education staff, the same laptop is offered for just RM4,329 on Education pricing. You’ll have to get verified with Unidays to enjoy Apple’s Education pricing.

Meanwhile, the MacBook Air 13 (M2 with 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU) with 8GB RAM and 512GB of storage (previously RM6,499) is now priced at RM5,599, which is a significant price reduction of RM900.

To recap, the MacBook Air 13 features a 13.6″ (2560×1664) Liquid Retina Display, a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, two Thunderbolt/USB4 ports as well as support for MagSafe 3 charging. It also gets a Magic Keyboard with Touch ID as well as a Force Touch Trackpad. Unlike the M3-powered MacBook, it only supports a single external display.

If you don’t need the latest and the greatest, the over 3-year-old M1-powered MacBook Air 13 is still available from authorised retailers while stocks last. At the time of writing, you could get the base model with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage for RM3,599. You might even find better deals during the upcoming online sales.
