The new 10-core GPU architecture in M5 delivers over 4x the peak GPU compute performance for AI compared to the M4, while providing up to 45% better graphics performance with third-generation ray tracing, and 6x better AI compared to M1, partly due to the new Tensor API in Metal 4.

It’s also paired with Apple’s most powerful CPU yet through a 10-core setup with up to a 4P6E setup, offering up to 15% faster multithreaded performance alongside a 153GB/s unified memory bandwidth that benefits practically almost everything.

Apple has also upgraded the 16-core Neural Engine to handle more AI-powered features efficiently, especially for Apple Vision Pro and Apple Intelligence. Features like transforming 2D photos into spatial scenes, generating Personas, or using Image Playground now perform faster and more smoothly.
