The other watch Apple launched alongside the Series 12 is the rugged one, the Apple Watch Ultra 4. As with the Series 12, there’s no big redesign here, so it keeps the familiar 49mm titanium body, but Apple has focused on the two things Ultra buyers care about most: battery life and going off the grid.
The Ultra 4 now lasts up to 50 hours on everyday use, a decent jump from the Ultra 3’s 42 hours, and stretches to 84 hours in Low Power Mode. For the outdoorsy crowd, it does up to 25 hours of workout tracking with full GPS and heart rate, or up to 45 hours in Max Extended Workout mode, so it can comfortably see you through a long hike or an ultramarathon.
The Ultra’s party trick, satellite connectivity, gets better too. On top of the existing Emergency SOS, Find My and Messages via satellite, watchOS 27 adds the ability to pull up Apple Maps and even send and receive photos in Messages over satellite, which is genuinely useful when you’re somewhere with no signal. Satellite features come with two years of free access from the time you activate the watch.
On the health side, the Ultra 4 shares the same new Health Sensing System and S11 chip as the Series 12. That means the same upgraded heart sensor reading your heart rate every five seconds, the new daily readiness score, and the Audio Intelligence features like Sound Recognition and Live Rewind, though as with the Series 12, Live Rewind arrives in beta later in 2026. You also get the same bright Retina display, rated up to 3,000 nits.
The Apple Watch Ultra 4 starts at RM3,699 with the Alpine Loop, Trail Loop or Ocean Band, while the version with the Titanium Milanese Loop goes for RM4,199. Pre-orders open on Friday, 11 September, with the watch arriving in stores from Friday, 18 September. It comes in Black and Natural titanium finishes.
